A golf swing follow through like a touring pro
A poor golf swing follow through or finish invariably will result in a poor golf shot. It’s very difficult to hit a good golf shot without finishing the golf swing correctly.
With most golfers you can usually tell whether they have hit a bad shot or not just by watching their follow through.
The good news is it’s not a very hard thing to fix if you know the right positions to be in the finish of the golf swing.
Have a close look at the picture above and you will see a good position. In particular look at the position of the right foot and the right shoulder.

Weight shift is key
A number of key positions should be achieved in the perfect golf swing follow through.
However, to achieve these positions a vital move in the golf swing must be performed.
The key is golf weight shift.
When you shift your weight correctly from your rear side to your front side in the golf swing the golf swing follow through will take care of itself.
The golf follow through is a bi-product of performing this key move in the swing.
Right foot position is a must
The position of the right foot is a great guide to determine if your follow through is correct.
Have a look at the image at the top.
You’ll see the right foot is up on the toes and the foot is straight from top to bottom.
This means the weight has shifted correctly from the rear to the front side.
Any bending or curving of the right foot means the movement has been done incorrectly.
Shoulders at the target
Your right shoulder in the golf swing follow through (right hander) should finish up equal or in front of your left shoulder.
This ensures you fully rotated through the golf ball. This most often results in a more powerful golf shot.
Additionally your chest and your belt buckle should be facing the target.
Arms and shoulders relaxed
A less talked about aspect of the golf follow through is the tension in the arms and the shoulders.
Most golfers tend to push really hard from the right side (right hander) in their golf swings which puts a lot of strain on their arms and shoulders.
In a tour pro golf swing their energy is coming from their bigger leg, oblique and glute muscles and as a result their smaller arm and shoulder muscles are relaxed at the completion of the golf swing.

Remember the key to a great follow through is not to focus on the movements of it.
A great golf swing follow through is the result of you making a good weight shift in the golf swing.
